Linktree Partners With Paypal To Accept Direct Payments Globally

Linktree, the popular "link in bio" service with over 16 million users, is teaming up with PayPal to spread its recently released "Commerce Links" facilities for direct payment on Linktree around the world. Creators in over 200 countries where PayPal operates can now receive payments through the transaction tools, according to the Melbourne-based business.

Commerce Links, which was launched in March, allows users to accept payments right on their Linktree profile without having to open a different browser or tab. Linktree users may now link their PayPal accounts and collect payments from their followers or clients using a debit or credit card thanks to the new integration. Users of Linktree notes can view details about their transactions, payment conversion rates, and more. According to the company, the required data is available to assist authors in managing their online presence.

“As the creator economy grows, creators want new ways to collect payments and support from their audience with as little friction as possible,” said Linktree co-founder and CEO Alex Zaccaria in a statement. “We are excited to be collaborating with PayPal to further expand our solutions to our users globally and enable them to further manage and monetize their digital presence.”

Creators can utilise two different sorts of Commerce Links to accept payments from their fans and customers: Customers and followers can request products and services from artists directly from their Linktree profile using a "Support Me Link," while "Request Links" allow customers and followers to request goods and services from creators directly from their Linktree profile.

Linktree claims that its partnership with PayPal is the latest in a long line of creator-focused initiatives. The deal comes only days after Linktree announced the acquisition of Songlink/Odesli, an automated music link aggregation platform. Linktree, which was founded in 2016, now competes with Shorby, Linkin.bio, and Beacons, among other “link in bio” platforms. Linktree reported in March that it had raised $45 million in Series B funding. Index Ventures and Coatue led the investment round, with AirTree Ventures and Insight Partners joining as returning investors.
