He has done M.Com, M.Phil (Commerce), MBA (Finance), Ph.D (Commerce). He has over 14 years of teaching experience in different institutions of repute like Netaji Mahavidyalaya, Kazi Nazrul University, Vidyasagar University, ICFAI, St. Xavier̢۪s College etc.

Dr Chakraborty has contributed around 40 papers in reputed professional and academic journals like Research Bulletin, The Indian Journal of Commerce, The IUP Journal of Management Research, The Management Accountant etc. He has authored two books (MATRIX Publication, Kolkata) in the area of Financial Management and one book (LAMBERT Academic Publishing, Germany) in the area of Financial Performance Analysis. He has edited a book (IGI Global, USA) entitled "Handbook on Research on Strategic Business Infrastructure Development and Contemporary Issues in Finance". Dr. Chakraborty has acted as principal investigator of UGC Minor Research Project entitled “Financial Performance of Multinational and Domestic Companies in Indian Pharmaceutical Sector: A Comparative Study”.
