Hinduism, Christianity , Islam, Buddhism reaches out to someone "powerful and divine" , someone we don't know but someone we believe in.

When people are in darkness , desperation or helpless , they seek out for a light, at the end of the tunnel, no matter how big or small it seems to be , as long as there is a light, a hint of light , there is HOPE . This hope either true or not is called Religion.
